Maternity photography often asks motherhood to look pristine. Nesting is more interested in what it actually feels like.
Created at home in Des Moines and photographed primarily on film, this editorial maternity series leans into the rituals and restlessness of late summer before a life changes shape. Garden hose water across the lawn. Watermelon on kitchen counters. An inflatable pool catching the last light of the evening. Small domestic scenes that become charged simply because they are temporary.
The images move between documentary intimacy and cinematic portraiture, finding something quietly monumental inside the ordinary. Pregnancy not as performance, but as atmosphere. Instinct. A body settling deeper into its surroundings while simultaneously preparing to leave them behind.
These are not traditional maternity portraits. They are studies in anticipation — loose, sun-warmed, and deeply lived-in.
